Welcome to Dr. Teo's lab!
Our Mission
To improve mental health by studying ways to strengthen social connections in real-world settings.

What influences do loneliness and isolation have on mental health? How can social support and one’s social network mitigate risk of suicide? What lessons does hikikomori—a severe form of social withdrawal—teach us that are applicable to other conditions? And how can tools such as public health campaigns and outreach on social media be leveraged to promote help-seeking and treatment for mental health concerns?
These are the types of questions that motivate and underlie the work in Dr. Teo’s lab.
